The Fulbright Scholar Program offers grants for college and university faculty as well as professionals and independent scholars, to lecture and conduct research in Peru. The Fulbright Scholar Program in Peru is open to all disciplines and to a variety of participants. Every academic rank as well as professionals outside academe (lawyers, government officials, journalists, research scientists and others) are encouraged to apply for a grant to Peru.
All grantees must affiliate with a Peruvian academic or research institution. Applicants are not required to arrange affiliation before selection. However, affiliations must be arranged prior to departure from the U.S. Research permits for archaeological research and research in areas designated as natural reserves must also be obtained prior to departure from the U.S.
Under a cooperative agreement with the United States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) assists in the administration of the Fulbright Scholar Program. Prospective candidates for a scholar grant to Peru must apply through CIES.
