"Chocolatada II" 2nd Annual Hot Chocolate Party |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
As suits the cold, damp winter in Lima, the second annual Hot Chocolate Party enlivened the general information session, held on July 22, 2005, for the Undergraduate Partial-Scholarship Program. This special event is a going away party for the departing group and a welcome for future undergraduate students, Foreign Language Teaching Assistants and their parents. Accompanying us was Mr. Edward Monks, representative of the Institute of International Education in New York City, who came to Lima specially to conduct the personal interviews, vital to the fulfillment of the participants' educational goals. The Institute of International Education has over eight decades of experience administering placement programs for international students and teachers going to the United States. Peru has the largest number of college applicants of any country, world-wide, applying to college through IIE. Over the years, this program has given students incredible opportunities for personal development. Graduates have made notable and often exciting contributions to the world. A recent example was reported in El Comercio, the major daily newspaper in Lima: Arnaldo Leon was admitted to the University of Kansas through the IIE/Advising Center Program. After graduation he did an internship at NASA. Arnaldo is now working on Space Ship One, the first privately financed space vehicle designed for tourism. The navigation system and software for flight control were designed by our graduate. If you have a quarter of a million dollars and the patience to wait until 2008 or 2009, join the people who are wait listed for the inaugural flight! There are 32 applicants for scholarships to U.S. colleges and 5 FLTA candidates for Fall 2006. You are invited to browse through the photos of "Chocolatada II" our Hot Chocolate Party at a local convention center. |
